This past week has been a fun one. Zel was home as he transitions from Pittsburgh to D.C. He's headed to D.C. today. Isaac and I spent a good part of the week over at mom and dad's so that Zel could have some time with his nephew and we all could catch up. I'm looking forward to moving into mom an dad's at the end of the month! It was really nice to have someone to watch Isaac for a couple hours during the day so that I could go take a nap or just have some time for myself. Marie and I even went out to Starbucks one afternoon and left Isaac with mom. I must say it wasn't that easy to leave him even for that short amount of time!

Joel's out looking for boxes right now. I've come to the realization that the move is happening in about 3 weeks...and I'm nowhere close to being ready for it! So this coming week will find me sorting and packing. I wish the whole actual moving process would just happen by itself!

I'm starting to look forward to Christmas season. I'm ready for the music and the decorations and the warm cozy feeling it always brings! We've decided to do Christmas in Washington with Joel's family this year. So we'll be there for Christmas Eve and day. It'll be interesting to see how Isaac does for that trip! Luckily he likes the car for the most part. He'll be almost 3 months old by that time! Crazy.

He had his One month appointment this week. He's a whopping 10 lbs 8 ounces, and gained 3/4 of an inch in height (21 3/4"). He had to have another billy rubin test because he still has a little bit of his jaundice left. He screamed through the heel prick and as the nurse squeezed the blood out. I hate hearing him in pain like that. Dr. Garcia called me later in the day and said that his level is down to 6.5 (it was at 13 three weeks ago). Apparently it's called "breast fed jaundice" so if he still looks a little yellow in two weeks I'm supposed to call back and we'll figure out what to do then. Honestly, I think he's fine and that his levels are going down (just slowly). But I'll do whatever they think is best. Dr. Garcia didn't sound to worried though. He said that other then the slight jaundice Isaac is looking perfect. I think so too.

Okay, Isaac is down for a nap and I need some food.

Things I'm learning...

- That though I may be in a deep sleep, the slightest peep out of Isaac will wake me in an instant.

- That if Isaac doesn't make any noises for an extended period of time while sleeping at night I will HAVE to get up in order to make sure he is still breathing.

- Three hours of sleeping straight for me is an amazing nights sleep now and I wake up feeling refreshed if I get that long of a period to sleep.

- Three hours of straight sleeping has only happened a handful of times and I usually expect to be up much sooner then that. (last night is was every 45 min)

- That sleeping during the day when Isaac sleeps is not a very easy thing to do. I always think of the millions of things I should be getting done. But when I do give in and sleep... it's amazing.

- I won't take sleep for granted ever again.

Other tid bits from the life of Sara and Isaac:

- Isaac is becoming a chubby little dude. Serious double chin, rolls and wrinkles on his legs and arms. Also his hair is growing longer and thicker each day. Our little blond chub. :)

- Isaac has officially started smiling as of last week. He started by doing it only for his dad and now he will do it for anyone as long as he is in a good mood.

- While people are extremely interesting for Isaac, he has a serious love affair with windows, lights, and walls. He will stare and stare at these objects and smile and "talk" to them like crazy.

- Once Isaac hit 3 weeks he became a bit of a fussy baby. Not really bad, but a lot more then we experienced in his first two weeks.

- He's a month and a day old and getting cuter by the minute!

- I'm working on figuring out how to do normal things all whilst taking care of a demanding child. He and I went to the grocery store by ourselves for the first time. It was nice to know I can do it on my own. But housework is still difficult to get done. I'll start on laundry or dishes or dinner but always get interrupted half way through and have a hard time getting back to them.

- I'm very ready to move into my parents house this coming month, but dreading the actual packing part...

- Pumpkin Spice Lattes are awesome.

Life with a baby..

...is a lot of fun, sometimes stressful, and how it should be.

I apologize that most of my status updates, xanga entries, and general conversation revolves around my little guy. My life has changed in so many ways and mostly has to do with my baby right now. Although I do reserve the right to throw into conversation and facebook comments things about the Phillies on occasion.

I am loving being a mother. It's really hard to believe that it has been three weeks. It feels like it has gone quickly yet at the same time I feel like I've had him for forever. Everyday I learn new things about him such as.. This cry means his diaper is wet and even though he just wet his diaper he still might pee on me while I change it! He loves baths, being bundled up in a nice warm blanket, but also hanging out in just a diaper. His favorite thing to do is stare out the window, at bright lights, and at faces. His daddy's is his favorite face to watch. He'll stare at him for the longest time. His mom's arms are his favorite to fall asleep in. Grandma has the touch too though. He likes having his hair brushed. He is much happier with a finger to suck on then his binky. His favorite nap spot when not in someones arms is on his boppy. And he is starting to have somewhat of a routine. So many things that I've learned... so many things I have yet to learn!

I've been enjoying going on some outings during the week with mom. It's nice to have someone to go out with:) We went out to lunch yesterday and shopping for clothes for Isaac. (He's growing out of his newborn clothes ) I get tired of being in the apartment after awhile. So, thanks mom!

Okay, well I think I'm going to try going on a walk now. It's beautiful out!

It's hard to believe that Isaac is already two weeks old! And it is amazing how much he has changed in just that amount of time. He definitely has filled out and has a more mature look about him. His jaundice has gone down considerably and his weight gain has been great! He seems huge to me compared to when he was first born! I guess that's what happens when he gains a whole 13 oz in one week! His doctor gave me the go ahead to let him sleep until he's hungry now. Because of his weight loss at the hospital and his jaundice I was given orders to wake him up every 3 hours to feed him. Let me tell you, it is almost impossible to wake a sleeping baby! So my stress level with that has gone down considerably. Although I feel as though he's been up more often now to feed then he was before.

Sleep happens in 1-2 hour spurts for me these nights. Usually the first time I put him down is my best time to sleep and then after that he wakes up either hungry or with a wet diaper pretty often. He has his nights and days mixed up still. So my nights usually consist of 4-5 hours of broken sleep. And day times I usually get a nap around 2 or 3, though usually only half an hour or so. But it gets me through until bedtime again. I also have a hard time figuring out when to shower during the day. Mom has been over a lot and will watch him while I go get take care of myself for a bit, which I am so thankful for! Yesterday I decided however to try things on my own and it worked out pretty well.

Joel's been amazing in helping me out so that I can recover. He's pretty much taken over housework until I am able to move about easier and get the hang of this whole mom thing. Our church family has been providing meals for us. I think our last one will be Saturday... so soon a shopping trip is in order and we'll be on our own for meals!

I am feeling a lot better then I was. I'm not as sore and have been out and about a good amount. I am still supposed to take it easy until my doctor's appt. in two weeks but I have been able to do things that I hadn't been able to do just a few days ago. Still if I do too much my body does let me know and I try to take it down a notch and just focus my energy on Isaac.

In other news, my lappy has finally just started falling apart. I mean it's had its troubles for awhile now but this week it just literally started coming apart! Joel is bent on getting me a new one for my birthday. So he is busy looking into that. Oh well, this computer lasted me quite awhile and served its purpose well.

I can't quite believe I'll be 25 on Saturday! It's a little easier to swallow now that I have a child...but still... 25!! It'll be a quiet birthday, just the kind I like.

Alright well, Isaac is fast asleep again so I think I will try to put him down and then start heading that direction myself.
